Rubio Monocoat Wood OilProtect and Colour Wood with One Oil, in One Coat, both Inside & Out
Developed by Belgium innovators, Rubio Monocoat is the latest cutting edge development in wood oil. The superior range of Rubio Monocoat Oils have been developed using natural ingredients to offer an environmentally friendly and incomparable wood finish collection. The Rubio Monocoat Hybrid Wood Protector is suitable for all types of wood, both inside and out and is available in 12 traditional colours as standard.
An advanced molecular bonding technology enables Rubio Monocoat Oils to adhere to the uppermost cellulose fibres of the wood within just a couple of minutes, offering durable protection in just one coat. As the oil can only bond once with the top fibres, an even coat can always be achieved with virtually no wastage.
Furthermore, Rubio needs no complicated maintenance (without sanding!). A range of cleaning products are available to ensure lasting protection, whilst isolated scratches, damage and general wear can be very easily repaired just by reapplying the product!
Application in 3 easy steps;
- Apply the oil
2. Allow to react
3. Remove any excess
Why Choose Rubio Monocoat?
Monocoat oil has a variety of different and innovative features which set it apart from anything else on the market:
Rubio Monocoat's unique molecular bonding creates a durable, long lasting protection
One Single Layer
Thanks to the technology of molecular bonding, Rubio Monocat will result in a durable colouring and protection in one single layer.
Once all the free cellulose fibres are molecularly bonded, surplus product will no longer be accepted by the wood or the bonded Monocoat Oil itself. This means that overlaps or starting marks are avoided.
Surfaces treated by Rubio Monocoat are easy to maintain and isolated scratches or damaged areas are simple to repair.
Rubio Monocoat offers an environmentally safe solution to protecting wood with 0% VOC content.
The unique Monocoat Oil pigment technology allows an intense and deep colouring in one single layer without compromising the natural look and feel of the wood.
All Wood Types
Rubio Monocoat can be applied to all wood types, furniture and veneers as well as floors.
How Does Rubio Monocoat Work?

[Fig 3] Rubio Monocoat Oil
Traditional Waxes & Oils (see fig 1) saturate deep into all fibres of the treated wood requiring multiple layers to achieve a consistent finish. Intensive maintenance is often required and it is difficult to repair due to overlapping the coats.
Varnishes (see fig 2) form a film on the surface of the wood which again requires multiple layers and often sanding between coats. This method of wood protection also loses the natural feel of the wood and is virtually irreparable.
Rubio Monocoat (see fig 3) uses advanced molecular bonding technology to bond only with the upper microns in the first layer of the wood - no film forming, and no saturation. This results in durable colouring and protection in one single layer. Once the fibres are bonded with the oil, the wood doesn’t absorb any surplus product - making a second layer unnecessary. Retaining the natural look and feel of the timber, Rubio Monocoat requires little maintenance, and isolated scratches, damage or general wear can be very easily repaired just by reapplying the product!
